AOL UK launches new film website Moviefone

AOL UK has today officially launched its new film website Moviefone, http://film.aol.co.uk, providing users with an online destination for movie news, features, celebrity gossip, movie trailers and show times. Moviefone is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the U.S. this year where it has established itself as one of the top three sites for movie news, attracting 15 million unique users a month (comScore Media Metrix, March 2009).
AOL UK Launches New AOL.co.uk Homepage

AOL is rolling out its new homepage in the UK, http://www.aol.co.uk/newhomepage, that will let consumers access multiple e-mail accounts and social networking services from a single online destination. The new AOL.co.uk homepage will be opened to third-party services and content, providing consumers with new customisation options while offering advertisers new opportunities to tap into an increasingly engaged audience. Dana Dunne, AOL Europe Chief Executive, said: “The reinvented homepage offers a convenient, one-stop destination where users can access everything they love on the Web within just a few clicks.”
Engadget Wins an EPpy Award
Engadget was named Best Consumer Technology Blog at the 14th Annual EPpy Awards Luncheon on May 7. The awards, sponsored by Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek, recognise the best websites for newspapers, TV, radio, magazines and media-affiliated Internet services.
AOL Announces Socialthing for Websites

AOL announced Socialthing, a new platform that brings social networking services to websites and enables publishers to attract new users and keep them engaged wherever they are on the Web. Socialthing premiered on The Boot -- AOL's country music site. It will launch on AOL's movie blog site, Cinematical, in the coming weeks and will eventually extend to all of AOL's network of sites.

AOL Services Named Finalists for Webware 100 Awards
AOL received four nominations for the 2009 Webware 100 Awards, which names the top Web 2.0 apps and services. Finalists include SHOUTcast for the Audio & Music category, Goowy's YourMinis for Browsing, AIM for Communication and Bebo for Social Networking & Publishing. CNET readers can vote on nominees through April 30, with winners revealed May 19.
